Jamie joined Kettering Town Harriers as an Under 13 Boy, and after trying various disciplines on the track and in the field, decided that the throwing events were more his liking, and thereafter was coached by Ron Williams.  After some excellent performances at School and Club level, and in County and Area Championships, he was rewarded by selection, to represent England, in Dublin, at the Home Countries International and he proved his selection by winning the gold medal in the Javelin event.
