Harriers nominated for 11 Awards!

The talented athletes & hard working volunteers at Kettering Town Harriers have been nominated for a total of 11 awards at the upcoming Kettering Sports Awards on 25th October at the Wicksteed park pavilion.

Amongst the athletes nominated are Fynn Batkin & Emily Williams, both nominated for the Young Athlete of the Year & Local Sportsperson of the Year after securing Full GB honours in the summer, Fynn for the European Triathlon Championships where he finished in a superb 7th place as well as winning a team relay Gold & Emily for her magnificent individual Silver medal in the European U18 Championships in the 1500m. Hammer thrower, Katie Gibson is also nominated for the Young Athlete of the Year award after enjoying a sensational season.

Other nominees include the U17 4x100m Sprint Squad for the Team of The Year award, the squad have enjoyed a superb season dominating the league meetings & breaking the club record on numerous occasions and they will be battling the Middle Distance squad from the club who have also been nominated for the Team of The Year award after many individual medal winning successes within the squad.

The Club itself is also nominated for Community Club of the year award along with two of the Harriers Young leaders, Josh Clutton & Olivia Knibb both nominated for Young Leader of the Year Award.

Finally Middle Distance Coach, Shane Smith who achieved considerable success with his squad in 2018, is nominated for coach of the Year.

Club Chairman, Matt Brown was delighted that so many areas of the club were nominated for an award, “It's great to see so many athletes nominated for awards and from different athletic disciplines and age groups" He added “I'm also pleased to see volunteers being nominated, volunteers are the life blood of the club and we are proud of our Young Leaders who deserve recognition for their hard work and commitment, it’s going to be a fantastic evening”.
It should be a terrific evening and a chance for the athletes/ volunteers to celebrate many of the club’s successes.
