Emily gets England call up!

Kettering Town Harriers middle distance star Emily Williams has been selected to represent England at the Elan indoor meeting on 26th January in Bratislava, this is the teenagers 8th International vest since making her international breakthrough in 2016, and her first competing as a senior woman.

Emily, who turns 18 in February, will compete over 1500m and is selected along with the trial race winner Senior Woman Kirsty Fraser, despite the misfortune of missing the trial race due to virus. This will be Emily’s first indoor competition over the longer 1500m distance, although she has competed indoors before in 2017 when she won the Midland Counties 800m championship.

Emily is a keen advocate of cross country and she has been competing on the country this season but wanted to race over her favoured track distance indoors and this is a perfect opportunity for her. She will decide whether to compete in the British indoor championships in Glasgow in February after Bratislava, but is keen to contest her last English Schools cross country in March before beginning her assault on achieving the qualification mark and hopeful selection for the World Juniors in the summer in Nairobi.

We wish Emily the very best of luck.
