Another great night for KTH Vets T&F team

On Wednesday 7th June the Veterans T & F team headed to Rugby for their second fixture.  The team performed very well with the Men finishing in 3rd place overall out of 8 teams and the Ladies team finishing 4th.

Trudi Pike found herself in a rare W40 200 sprint race and ran well for 6th as well as a fine 3rd in her preferred 3000m as well as running a 400m leg of the relay.  Alison ran well to knock 20 seconds of her 800m time from last season for 5th in the W40 800m.  Kerry Munn came 2nd in her V50 800m as well as coming 4th in the 200m and the long jump and also ran a leg of the 400m relay.  Babs Poncia ran well for 4th in the W40 3000m and also ran a leg of the relay.  Elaine Fairbrother came 2nd in the 800m, 3rd in the 200m and 4th in the triple jump as well as a leg of the relay.  Kathy Coleman cleared up the field events with 3rd in the High jump, 5th in the shot and 6th in the discus as well as doing the 2k walk  for 3rd.  Paula Sinnott also did the 2k walk V35 for 5th.

The 4 x 400m Ladies relay team of Trudi Pike, Elaine Fairbrother, Babs Poncia and Kerry Munn ran a new W40-49 Club record time of 5.41.2 knocking 5 seconds off the previous best time.

Not to be outdone the Mens 4 x 400 relay team of Ross Brown, Steve Sinnott, Andy Clawson and Tony James also ran a new M40 – 49 Club record time of 4.04.02 knocking a massive 53 seconds off the previous best time!!

In the Mens Team Pete Mills finished 2nd in both the M40 Javelin and high jump.  Ian Hearne (having just had pole vault lessons from Steve Sinnott) performed very well to achieve the minimum height of 1.50m to finish 5th as well as placing 7th in the 200m and 4th in the Long jump.  Steve finished 2nd in the M40 200m and 3rd in the pole vault as well as taking part in the relay.  M60 Kevin Williams ran well for 3rd in the 200m in 29.6.

Ross Brown finished 4th in the M35 200m and 5th in the 3000m as well as taking part in the 400m relay.  Tony James ran another fast paced 800m in the M35 in 2.12.3 for 2nd, as well as a leg of the record breaking 400m relay.     Andy Clawson ran well for 4th in the W40 3000m and also a leg of the great relay squad.  Paul Young was 3rd in the M60 3000m and 6th in the M60 Javelin.  Richard Coleman finished 4th in the M50 discus.

A talking point was the “mincing” of the 2k walkers, Rob Britten and Sean Gallagher who, failing to appreciate that they were racing, finished within 0.2 second of one another!!   Sean finishing 2nd in M35 and Rob finishing 6th in M50.  Rob also took part in the 800m for 7th.

Another great night for the Veterans – special thanks to those taking part and to those assisting with officiating and timekeeping.
