Babs breezes to victory

An improvement of three minutes from the previous race paved the way for an easy victory for Babs Fulton in the third round of the Kettering Town Harriers 5k handicap races.

Starting first, Babs was never remotely in danger of being caught by the faster runners as she completed the course in 25:42, two minutes before second finisher Rob Farrow. Third home was Phil Nudds, whose time of 20:51 was also a big improvement from the second round.

Making a welcome return to the Leisure Village roads was Terry Toseland, who recorded the fastest time of the season so far: 17:38. Lee Coulson (18:53) dipped under 19 minutes for the first time, whilst there were also season's bests for Chris Brennan (19:08) and Andrew Clawson (19:24).

Yvonne Mehmet was fastest lady on the night.

With one round to go, the overall standings are led comfortably by Robert Britten from Paul Marlow, a previous winner of the series.
