12 Harriers made the long journey to the Banbury 5 on Tuesday 12th June.
Two outstanding series performances to speak of after only 5 races. KTH Vet Men have secured the vets title winning all 5 races. A proud moment for the club. Also on the night, Kerry Munn guaranteed first F55, again winning all five of her races. Well done Kerry and it looks like you are getting faster each race.
Making it well worth the journey, Elaine Fairbrother, Ross Brown and Sean Gallagher all achieved PBs. Ross claimed on the start line that he was going to take it easy. Elaine is getting stronger race by race. Sean has been covering the 5 mile distance for a number of years so to PB at this stage must have felt good. Keep reporting PBs to Phil.
Jack Chennell has been consistently first Harrier and did not disappoint with 8th overall and 6th in the senior category. Well done Matt Fowler for winning the M40 race for the first time this year followed by Phil Brigden (6th) and Ross Brown (7th). Kerry Munn comfortably won the F55 class. Phil West was 2nd M45 in a close race. Elaine Fairbrother was 3rd F40, her highest finish. Nicola Speed came 7th in the F50.
Unfortunately the cakes have not matched the Harriers’ performances. After a promising start at Silverstone with Lemon Drizzle and Coffee and Walnut, it has been a disappointment. A big “boo!” goes out to Corby Borough Council who banned homemade cakes at East Carlton for health and safety reasons. Stop spoiling our fun and sort those potholes out! Anyway, all is not lost; Tuesday 26th June is the Weedon 10k, well renowned for being the king cake venue!
See you at Weedon.
