Champions shine at County Schools

Three of the Harriers crowned 2 weeks ago at the opening Cross country fixture in 2018, The NAA County Championships were all in action at the schools County Championships, held over a challenging Croyland Park course, which was very wet in places, adding to the challenge. Lucas Rogers (U13B), Dylan Bowley (U17B) & Emily Williams (U17W) were all in dominant form for the Harriers, all becoming double County Champion to continue their fantastic start to the year.

U13 Lucas Rogers, who is fast maturing into a fine athlete, again set off over the 3km course with intent, sitting in on the leading group and with just about 1km to go he stretched out to take a lead of about 30m which he comfortably held until the end, to secure a magnificent Gold medal. Alfie Frayne had an excellent race to finish in 4th place just out of the medals.

Emily Williams easily won the U17 girls with one of the biggest margins of the day with a strong run, and she will be relishing higher levels of competition over the coming weeks with two regional championships. The U19 girls also ran well with Poppy Carmichael back to some good form after finally shaking off the effects of a recent virus to finish a fine 4th, and she will look to gain some momentum over the coming weeks. Sophie Moss also enjoyed a fine race finishing in 5th place just ahead of fellow Harrier Harriett Jolley who qualified for the next round along with Charlotte Maywood.
