Changes to the Open Meeting - updated (400mh)

Update - the committee has agreed to add 400m hurdles to the programme. Same time as the 400m races - please mark entries clearly. Advance entries close Thursday 17/4.

Although its winter, thoughts soon turn to Spring – and that means Open Meeting which will next be held on Saturday 19th April. This meeting marks the start of our 120th season - more events will be coming soon.

Having listened to feedback after 2013's successful events, the club has made the following changes to the timetable for this meeting.

Track

• Allowed extra time for the 100m races thereby reducing the hanging around for 800m runners.
• Allowed extra time for the 200m races as well
• Pushing back the 150m time for the u11s to allow them additional recovery time

Field

• There is no cage expected so the Discus has been swapped with the shot
• Have introduced PB dependent groups on the High Jump & Long Jump to allow athletes time to compete
• Pushed back the javelin time so that the vortex howler has sufficient time
• There will remain a limit on the overall number of Long jumpers in order to give athletes time

Overall Guidance

• Advance entry is still welcomed – but by post – cheques payable to Kettering Town Harriers and send to PO Box 7669, Kettering, NN16 8TZ (no payment, no advance entry)
Full timetable & entry forms are now in the fixtures & results section as well as the Clubhouse
• There will again be separate desks for entry – one for advance, one for pay on the day
• Having looked at other open Meetings across the region, the club has increased its fees for the first time. At £5 for 3 u11 events (the maximum they can do) or £7 for 3 events (all other age groups), the club feels it is still providing good value for money.
• As per last year the club welcomes people to help out and will refund entry fees paid after the event.
