Connect Relays - Alexander Stadium

The Kettering Town Harriers U15 girls relay team were invited to compete in the Club:Connect relays for the first time due to their high ranking in the East Midlands. The team consisted of Ellen Smith (lead leg), Berny Kwei-Tagoe, (second leg), Harmony Hart, (3rd leg), and Cynthia Ike, (anchor leg). They were unfortunately not able to train for the event all together due to holiday commitments, but still managed to finish 4th in their race in a new club record of 51.71 seconds. The record had stood since 2005. This performance has resulted in them being ranked 4th in the East Midlands.

They were able to spend the rest of the day watching the Diamond League meeting which included many World Championship winners. They spent most of the day collecting autographs from athletes such as Daphne Schippers, & Asha Phillip. Coach Ann Inniss-Haycox said "The girls really pulled it out of the bag on the day! To finish 4th on the limited amount of training they were able to do for the event is simply amazing! I'm very proud of the way that they conducted themselves at the event. They are a credit to the club."
