Daniel and Tabatha sign off in style

The track season came to a spectacular end for two KTH athletes with an English Schools medal and yet another club record!

Kettering's young international race walker Daniel Waples competed in the English Schools Championships which was held at Stoke on Trent 18th September. With a field of 17 in the Under 15 boys 3k event and nobody wanting to take the race on he found himself taking the lead. With two laps to go he was overtaken by two opponents but he comfortably retained 3rd place with a PB of 15 min 41.74 sec. 11 out of the 17 walkers got PBs.

The following week, Dan represented the Midlands in the Inter Area match at Dartford. This time he finished in 2nd in another PB of 15 mins 26.48secs with the winner Cameron Corbishley from Kent (silver medallist in English Schools) winning in 15mins 25.35 secs.

Meanwhile Under 11 sprinter Tabatha Walford concluded her track season with another fine performance, this time over 80m at the Biggleswade Open Meeting. Her time of 11.80s set yet another club record, replacing Grace Linnett's of a couple of weeks earlier.

The two girls have each finished the season with two outright records and both of them have equalled Alice Chapman's 100m record, which rounds things off rather nicely!
