Depleted harriers fighting off HoE relegation

The second of the three League meetings took place at Coventry on Sunday 8th June. The Team were met with a glorious hot day and some good performances.

Division One provides a stiff challenge for the Team particularly as this meeting clashed with a senior league meeting the day before and also an Open meeting at Milton Keynes the evening prior which many athletes competed in. This resulted in many athletes being unavailable for this fixture and in desperation even Team Manager Amanda Marlow had to participate in many events to score some much needed points!

Not all athletes can be mentioned in this report but a huge thank you to all who turned up and competed to the best of their ability particularly in those extra events for an extra point or two!

A few extra under 17 men were even persuaded to come along and compete at this meeting and hopefully will have their appetite wetted for the final fixture on Saturday 5th July when the crucial meeting takes place and the final placings will be revealed and it will be known whether Divison one status has been retained.

Winning performances on the day were

U11 Max Mowforth winning the 75m and long jump
U11 Rory Pateman winning the Vortex howler

U13 Lewis-Morgan Barton winning the 100m and 75 Hurdles in a new club record of 13.1
U13 Joshua Gray winning 75 hurdles (b)
U13 Dylan Bowley winning 800m

U13 Girl - Erin Healy winning the sprint double 100m and 200m by a very impressive margin

Many athletes (too many to mention, sorry) gained personal bests with some fabulous achievements. Some athletes stepped in to cover events at short notice.

The Club are currently in joint 6th position following the first two meetings. Unfortunately this position is held by 3 clubs. Two of those Clubs, Kettering, Banbury or Leicester will be relegated to Divison 2 at the end of the season.

Given the fact that the final meeting is at Banbury, The Club will really need a strong team for the final Fixture on SATURDAY 5th JULY. Please confirm availability to Team Manager, Amanda Marlow as soon as possible so that the Teams can be Selected.
