14 year old Emily Williams produces another scintillating performance at the Watford open meeting to move to number 2 in the UK rankings for 1500m with a superb time of 4:31.33. Emily moved to within 1.5 seconds of the current UK leader, Olivia Mason, and declared that she felt she can go quicker still so will look to find a good quality race within the next Month. The race was run with near perfect conditions with even 72 second lap splits with a 52 second final 300m where Emily powered her way past 4 athletes to record a time which ranks her inside the top 30 all time for the UK.
Emily Williams delighted with her 1500m time of 4:31.33, which ranks her 2nd in the UK

Emily who is also ranked 3rd over 800m, showed her strength over the longer distance, and may decide that the 1500m is her preferred distance and try to qualify for English Schools over the longer distance next year. She next faces the prospect of a 3,000m race, her first this season, at the Midland Counties Championships in the second weekend of August, and will try to have one final attempt to become the UK No1 by running under 4:29 later in the Month.
Also putting a great performance was U20 Josh Cara who set a PB in the 3,000m with 8:52.85 to move to 54th in the UK. Josh who is coming into decent shape following the stress from his final year as an A level student, is planning to become a doctor and hopefully follow in his Mothers footsteps by studying at Cambridge. He is now focused in getting in a good block of training and will look to improve on his time with races lined up going into September.
Well done to both athletes.
