England Call up #2 for King

Kettering Town Harrier Indienne King has been selected to represent England U20’s team at the prestigious Manchester International on Wed 18th Aug in the 800m, following a sensational debut season for the club.

This will be Indienne’s 2nd International vest this season since joining the Harriers over the Christmas period, her first was a GB U20 team call up for the Loughborough International in May and this latest call up caps a brilliant season for the 17 year old which has seen her win her first National Championship; King was crowned English Schools 800m Champions and also won a silver medal in 800m at the England Athletics U20 Championships, both as a bottom year athlete.

Coach Shane Smith was delighted with his protégé continued success “Indienne has made great progress since joining Kettering and has shown a real desire to improve and win a National championships, witnessed by her first English schools victory in July, this latest England vest is just reward for all the hard work she has put in during the last lock down and on track this season”. Indienne was similarly delighted with her 2nd international vest “Its amazing to be selected to represet my country and I am really looking forward to competing against the best young 800m runners in the UK".   

 

Indienne is named in the England U20 team to take on Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as a Great Britain & Northern Ireland [GB&NI] U18 & U20 teams at the Manchester Regional Arena. Recognised as one of the premier track and field events in the domestic athletics calendar, the Manchester International will see some of the UK’s brightest talents going head-to-head. The athletes will be looking to impress in the build-up to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games after last year’s Manchester International was cancelled due to the pandemic.
