Erin makes her mark in EA championships

Bottom year U15 Erin Healy produced some terrific performances in the season ending U15/ U17 England Athletics Championships held at Bedford International Stadium competing against the best sprinters in the country. Erin was the sole representation from Kettering Town Harriers, and is in terrific form after her delayed start to the season due to an injury. Following up on her superb Midland Counties bronze medal Erin set a new 100m PB in her heat with 13.00 but was not able to progress through to the semi-finals, so was looking forward to following days 200m, an event she now favours.

On day 2 Erin again produced a sparkling performance in the heats of the 200m to knock and incredible 1.1 seconds from her previous best, running a terrific bend and overtaking two competitors to the finish line and recording a grade 1 time of 26.17 ensuring she progressed through to the semi-finals later in the day. Returning some hours later, Erin again produced a superb performance to almost equal her new PB with 26.26 but sadly she missed out on a place in the finals. However, Erin who is still a bottom year athlete will take great encouragement from her performances, and show she will be a forced to be reckoned with next season, she catapults herself from a UK ranking of over 150 prior to the championships to 49th in the UK!

Well Done Erin!
