Fynn secures English Schools Qualifier!

BMC regional meeting Tipton

Fynn Batkin joined a growing list of athletes from the Harriers who have reached the all-important English Schools Qualification time, with a superb opening 3,000m race of the season at the BMC regional meeting in Tipton.

Fynn was looking for a 16+ second improvement from his 2016 best, and on the back of a strong XC season he powered his way to a superb new PB of 8:57.4, which is 1.6 seconds inside the qualifier time, and he will be looking to impress the selectors in the final selection race in a few weeks’ time to get the nod for his first English Schools track championships, the pinnacle of the sport for school age athletes. Fynn will also be eyeing up the U17B club record of 8:52.8 held by squad colleague Josh Cara, which is within his grasp especially as this was his first race of the season.

Whilst not enjoying her best race, Emily still managed to improve her PB & club record by half a second to 4:26.29, and on this evidence she will will be confident of going significantly better when firing on all cylinders.
