Weather conditions for the annual 30k Valentines Run hosted by Stamford Striders made a tough course even harder, although strong winds and steep hills did not stop a fine display from Kettering Town Harriers.
In a field of 619, Phil West came in first for the Harriers in 46th place with a time of 2:05.15 followed by Ron Searle in 86th place with a time of 2:10.55. Matt Smith came in next placed 102 with a time of 2:13.15 closely followed by Kemal Mehmet in 113th place with a time of 2:15.13.
Particular mention must go to Ron for finishing 2nd in the M-V55 category and the Harriers team as a whole for a fine performance in challenging conditions.
Damien Carr, a former member of Kettering Town Harriers who still occasionally runs for us as second claim, who was running for Coventry Godiva in this race, came in 5th with a time of 1:45:00.
Thanks to Stamford Striders for a well organised event once again and a quality goody bag!
