Harriers in the medals at County Schools XC

A week after the County AA Cross Country, the young Harriers were in action again, this time at Abington Park, Northampton, for the County Schools Cross Country. Different age group categories made for some interesting races, and again there were some excellent performances by KTH athletes.

For the second week running Tabatha Walford ran brilliantly  to secure the Minors U13 Title and take gold, reeling in 3 athletes on the long up-hill section prior to the finish to win in style.

Sister Kayli ran superbly going one better than the previous week's race by coming 3rd and taking a bronze medal in the U17 Girls race and finishing 5th overall in the U17/U19 Girls race.

Josh Cara and Jack Murphy (R&N) had a repeat of their 2010 county championships race, by running neck and neck for most of the race, Jack just showing his strength on the long up-hill section and pulling out a short gap which he maintained to the finish, but Josh finished 2nd taking the silver medal.

Maisie Green ran a far more controlled race than the a week earlier to take silver medal in the U15 girls race, gold going to the battling Ellie Welch (Corby). Maisie and Ellie were both front running side by side for most of the race, until the final 400m, where Maisie forged a small gap. Ellie fought back on the down hill section making the most of her huge stride length advantage and just held on in a sprint finish to the line.

Many of the other athletes ran well to qualify for the Anglian Trophy to be held in Corby on 5th February.

Results, with some very strange spellings, are on the results page.
