Harriers keep their place in the top flight

The final Heart of England fixture took place at Tamworth on 31st August. With Kettering in 5th place from the first two fixtures it was important to field a strong team of athletes to ensure that the Club retained their position in the First Division of the League.

The athletes did not disappoint and probably the largest squad of the season (with a full coach) headed to Tamworth.

All athletes performed to the best of their ability and all should be very proud of their achievements including many who gained personal bests!

Winners in the "A" and "B" categories on the day were as follows:-

Emily Williams (U13 A 800m)
Dylan Bowley (U11 A 600m)
Millie Toseland (U11 Vortex Howler)
Tapuwa Chitiga (U13 A Shot)
Haydn Bennett (U13 B Shot)
Lewis-Morgan Barton (U13 B 200m)
Tyrese Parris-Smith (U15 A Hurdles)
Lauren Montgomery (U15 B Discus)
Abigail Coleman (U17 B 800m)
Harriet Sumnall (U17 B Shot)
Harriet Sumnall (U17 A Discus)
Daisy Gilbert (U17 B Discus)

There were also new club records set in the following events

Haydn Bennett (U13) 100m and 200m

Lewis-Morgan Barton (U13) 75m Hurdles

U13 Boys 4 x 100m relay team (consisting of Brooklyn Biddle, Lewis-Morgan Barton, Diarra Layne and Haydn Bennett)

Those athletes who did not win their events ALL contributed to the team total score and assisted the Club in retaining their position in the top flight of the Heart of England League. The standard of this league can be very high and keeping our place in this league will benefit KTH athletes as they compete against some of the best youth in the UK.

A huge thanks to everyone who took part in the League and with a strong cross-country season ahead we can all look to an even stronger performance in the 2014 track and field season.
