Harriers win at Kettering sport awards

Last weekend a number of Harriers athletes, coaches and teams were winners at the Kettering Sports awards.

England Heptathlete Niamh Bailey won sportswoman of the year for her medal placings in a number of national and international events this year. Young harrier Erin Healy was nominated for young sportswoman of the year.

Emily Williams won the Sports Personality award following a record breaking season where she broke the club record in the 800m and finished in the top 5 nationally.

The middle distance squad won the team of the year beating out the midland vets track and field team. The middle distance squad broke almost a dozen records while the veterans team broke numerous records and won their league cup at the end of season event.

Middle distance coach Shane Smith won the award for the second time having won the award in 2012. Sprint coach Aidan Bailey was also nominated - truly deserved after a year where he stepped up following the sad passing of mentor and friend Dick Caplis.
