Heart of England Report Banbury

Preliminary report.

In the glorious summer heat there were some scorching performances from the Kettering athletes resulting in a very respectable 3rd place overall at the 2nd HofE league match held at Banbury.

For the middle distance squad the performance of the day came from Jacob Asher-Relf who ran a magnificent solo effort in the boys U13 “A” 1500m with a near 10 second PB to jump to a UK top 15 ranking with 4:44.4, supported with a superb “B” race win for Lucas Rogers with a fine 5:03.8. Dylan Bowley also ran a fine solo effort in the U17M 1500m to win comfortably in 4:12.2, just a few seconds from his PB, and will look to go for a quick time at his favoured Watford in a few days’ time. Good point were also scored in the U15B 1500m A & B race with both Josh Clutton (4:51.2 for 5th ) & Ryan Raulia (4:56.1 for 2nd) setting new PB’s.

The other great performances of the day came from two of the squads rising stars in the U11 age group with a terrific race between Jemima Davey & Maggie Gancheva who were locked in battle throughout the 600m with Davey just getting the nod on the line, both girls set impressive new PB’s Davey 1:55.9 & Gancheva 1:56.1 and both girls closing in on the 2003 club record from the excellent Sophie Munn of 1:55.2. Davey also performed well in other events, winning the long jump with 3.43m and 4th in the 75m with 12.3.

There was a great double in the U15B 800m as well with Brandon Raulia winning the ‘A’ race in 2:18.1 with his trademark power finish, and Ben Brooker winning the ‘B’ race in 2:30.0. In the longer sprints the Harriers performed well with a fine win from Josh Geddes in the 300m in 43.3, and another top performance from Morgan Potter in the U17M 400m with a fine win in 53.5, and a solid performance in the long jump to win the competition with a 5.63m jump. Ryan Raulia also won the high jump with 1.44m jump & the shot with 8.73m.

The sprinters were also in a dominant mood with superb ‘A’ & ‘B’ stream wins for the U17 women with Alex Beal taking the ‘A’ race in 13:30, and Annabelle Clotworthy a fine ‘B’ win in 13:50, with Beal also winning the long jump with 4.65. Cynthia Ike was also in fine form easily winning the 100m/ 200m double in 12.7 & 26.2 respectively. There was also a golden double for Dylan Mukhta in the ‘B’ races with 11.8 & 24.1 respectively with Joe Bradley picking up two fine second places in the ‘A’ stream with 11.9 & 23.9. Cole Sinnott was the only other winner on the day with a ‘B’ 200m win in the U15B with 25.7

The 4x100m relays were also impressive with the Harriers winning four of the six on offer with superb wins in the U13 G with 58.4, U17 W 54.0, U13B 56.2, and the U17m in 47.8.

Special mention to Ruby McLeod gained 3 pb’s in the 1500m – knocking 22 seconds off her previous time, and also gained new pbs in the high jump and hurdles for 2nd place.

Also Kaiden Ramsey – a sprinter from Ann’s squad U13B – gained a pb of 4.48 in the U13b long jump as a bottom year athlete with another year in this age category.

Well done to all the athletes who competed & special thank you to those competitors who agreed to compete in extra track events and jumped or competed in throwing events to gain much needed points.
