It's a Waples weekend!

There was double good news for the Waples family over the weekend, in the form of a Midlands medal and an international selection.

Race walker Daniel was thrilled to receive notification that he has been selected for the national team to take part in an international match in Ireland next month, whilst older brother Jake took the bronze medal in the Under 20 800m at the Midland Championships.

Also medalling in the Regional Championships at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium was Hayley Munn, who underlined her return to form by running her best 1500m for four years. Her time of 4:42 clinched second place in the senior race.

Just missing out on the medals was David Edwards, who came fourth in Under 20 3000m and Yannick Phippen, who ran very close to his best with 11.15 in the 100m for fifth place.

Rebecca Hall was 5th in the Senior Women's 800m (a season's best 2:19.63) and Adam Henley was 5th in the Discus and 4th in the Shot.

KTH's best chance of a gold medal disappeared when Jonathan Goringe had to withdraw from the Under 20 Steeplechase a couple of days before the meeting due to a persistent injury.
