Kettering August Open Meeting

Sprint Squad update:

High winds & rain were the order of the day at last weekend's Open Meeting. It, however, didn't stop the athletes from the sprint squad from raising their game & putting in some fine performances.

Erin Healy, who was warming up for this weekend's England Athletics Under 17 and U15 Championships in Bedford, competed in the 100m, recording a time of 12.9 to finish 5th in her race. She will compete in the 200m this weekend where her competitors will include the top sprinters in the country in the under 15 age group. Based on her performances this season, it is anticipated that she will do very well.

Dylan Mukhtar followed up his fine performances at the Midland Championships by lowering both of his PBs'. In the 100m he finished 5th in a time of 12.2, then followed that up with 3rd place in the 200m in a time of 24.8.

Max Mowforth & Josh Gray also recorded PBs' on the day. Max equalled his 100m time of 12.6 when he finished 3rd in his race, and recorded a new 200m time of 26.2 after easing up at 180m. Josh returned from an injury ravaged season to lower his 200m time to 25.3. He then decided to step up to the 300m and recorded a time of 42.0.

Cynthia Ike, on her debut in Kettering Town Harrier colours, competed in the U13 age group & recorded times of 13.6 in the 100m, and 27.9 in the 200m. Both performances have elevated her to high rankings in the Midland area.

Niamh Ruffles who has also struggled with an injury this season, ran confidently to win her 100m race in a time of 14.0, and then recorded a time of 28.2 to finish 3rd in the 200m. Cole Sinnott, who has done multi events including the sprints this season for the club, finished 6th in his 100m race in a time of 14.3.

Congratulations to all of the athletes who represent the sprint squad so well at this meeting.
