Kettering Ladies Finish 6th in EVAC Final

The Ladies Veteran Team took part in the League Finals on Sunday 23rd September at Milton Keynes. The conditions were terrible with heavy rainfall!! This did not dampen the spirits of the 7 club members who took part and though faced with the daunting prospect of competing with few numbers coped extremely well.

Having qualified for the Finals in 7th position out of the 8 qualifying teams - it looked likely that the team might drop a position due to not having their full team numbers. However, with some team members taking part in a significant number of events each the Team romped home with a 6th place finish!! The times are distances were irrelevant - the conditions were poor and there were some very tired legs dragging themselves round a lot of events, simply to score some much needed points.

Highlight of the day was the relay team 2 x 400m and 2 x 200m consisting of Kerry Munn, Katy Williams, Sandra Puckerin and Helen Keyworth who romped home with a 100m advantage over their nearest competitors.

Special thanks to the full team which in addition to the relay team above also included Sarah Bailey, Kathy Coleman and Amanda Marlow.

A fantastic day and result. The full results can be found on the Results page.

PS Despite the poor conditions, Kathy Coleman broke her own W45 2K Walk record with a time fractionally over 15 minutes. This is the last of a tremendous set of track and field club records set in 2012.
