Let there be light!

On a truly historic day in the 122 year history of Kettering Town Harriers the brand new floodlights were switched on for the first time for the normal Tuesday track session, and the results were quite incredible for everyone to see.

KTH Track, never looked better with the brand new floodlights shining bright!

For the entire time the Harriers have been based at the Thurston Drive track facility since 1993, the track has been poorly lit from the adjacent hockey field lighting, severely limiting the numbers of athletes who can train on the dark evenings in winter time, and making the whole training experience less than inspiring.

The transformation was truly incredible with every inch of the track bathed in bright lights, the sessions in winter time will now feel far more appetising and will allow every part of the track to be used safely by all the squads.

A massive thank you to everyone who has been involved in the floodlighting project, but in particular to KTH Chairman Matt Brown who in his first year at the helm of the club has brought about a series of transformations from his leadership and determination, and his piece de la resistance are the wonderfully new floodlights which are a hugely significant step in the transformation of the club.

Special thanks also to the key partners who helped to fund this project, England Athletics & Sport England, and for Kettering Borough Council who have been a real driving force in helping to deliver the project.
