Lucas Crowned King in Northants 5k series

U17 Lucas Mansell secured his 5 outright win in the Northants 5k series to take the overall title in some style with another dominant performance in the undulating Brixworth County Park course.

Mansell had previously finished first in all the previous races, Delapre Abbey, Boughton house, Castle Ashby, and Stanwick lakes and capped a fine summer series with a win at Brixworth Country Park the last of the Northhants 5k Series offering a fast, out and back promenade run.

 

Lucas Mansell produced an exceptional run, finishing the slightly over distance course in 17:58 over 30 seconds clear from 2nd place Northampton Road Runners, Isaac Tipler to take the race and series trophy.

Lucas who trains with the Kettering Town Harriers Middle Distance Squad is thrilled with his success and this has inspired him to work harder and strive for more athletic successes in the future. Mansell now looks to target the upcoming Midland Road Relays competing with the Senior Men’s team.

 

Also competing in the race were three of the U15 Boys who produced a clean sweep with George Sharp winning the category in 21:05, with Finley Brooker second in 21:17 & Zachary Scott 3rd in 21:42, with James Clutton 4th in 23:13.

 

Fast starting Harriers look to make a good start

 

There was further success for the Harriers with a V45 win for Ross Brown (20:24) with Jamie Horseman in 3rd (25:04), Bill Robinson 2nd in the V50 category (22:24), Josh Cannell 3rd in the SM competition (18:55) with David Pike 12th in the V55 catagory (38:16). For the ladies, Trudi Pike top placed with 5th place in the V50’s (28:12), with Val Nix running well for 9th in the V60 category (41:27).
