16 Harriers tuned out for the grand finale at The Open University, Milton Keynes helped by non-running KTH supporters on two legs and four. At 472, this was one of the largest fields of the series. There was an air of anticipation as participants lined up for their last chance to improve on the final standings.
This supposedly flat PB course is always a test of stamina and mental strength. There are only so many cycle paths and subways one can take, only to reach the bitter end without a cake in sight! Well done to all who endured the monotony. There were physical casualties including our own who battled to the end heroically. Good to see the team rallying round to support our weary soldiers.
Well done Jack Chennell for making it eight out of eight first Harrier finishes in your first EMGP series and 13th Senior Male on the night. Matt Fowler was 3rd M40 again in a competitive group. Phil West was 3rd M45. Phil Brigden, Ross Brown and Tom Shepherd packed nicely in the M40 group for 7th, 8th and 9th. Elaine Fairbrother, first Harriers lady, was 6th F40 rounding off a successful series. Kerry Munn finished her winning campaign with 2nd F55. Yvonne Mehmet and Nicola Speed also achieved top ten finishes for their age groups.
All results as follows: Jack Chennell 35:42, Matt Fowler 35:54, Phil West 36:49, Phil Brigden 37:16, Ross Brown 37:26, Tom Shepherd 38:08, Sean Gallagher 41:09, Elaine Fairbrother 43:49, Kerry Munn 45:09, Vince Galiano 45:30, Yvonne Mehmet 48:15, Nicola Speed 49:17, Steve Chester 49:22, Eddie Murphy 52:40, Lauren Mehmet 54:25, Samantha Brockway 64:13.
