Night of the 100m's

16 athletes travelled to Nuneaton on Wednesday evening for the first of Nuneaton Harrier’s themed open meetings, this time concentrating on 100m races.  It was the 2nd time that this meeting has been held, and it looks set to become an annual event based on it’s popularity.

The performance of the night from the sprint squad athletes came from U17 athlete, Ryan Amesimeku, who ran an outstanding race to win his race and smash his personal best in a time of 11.29 seconds.  Following him over the line in 2nd place was U20 athlete, Cole Sinnott, who also ran a personal best of 11.51 seconds.

U15 boy, William Robertson, fresh from setting a 200m PB at the Kettering Open on Bank Holiday Monday, won his race in a new PB of 12.57 seconds.  He held off a fast finishing, Cynthia Ike, U20, who was running her first race of the season, and finished 2nd in her fastest season opener of 12.61 seconds. 

Also in their race was U17 athlete, Harriet Cleaver, who dipped under 13 seconds for the 2nd time that week with a time of 12.98 seconds to finish 6th.

Also achieving PBs’ were U13 boy, Zane Cooper, who ran a strong race to finish 4th in 13.23 seconds, while U17 athletes, Holly Abbott and Joshua Wenje, finished 3rd in 14.35, and 4th in 12.29 respectively. 

Logan Reid, U20, ran a season’s best of 11.05 to finish in 5th place in his race.  The race was won by Tipton athlete, Jamal Chambers, in a time of 10.76 seconds, which was also a season’s best.  Also in the U20 age group, strong runs were produced by Max Mowforth who finished in 3rd place in his race in a time of 11.71 seconds, while Jack Abbott came close to his PB with a time of 12.15 to finish 2nd.
