There were some terrific performances from the KTH squads with 9 athletes selected for the prestigious Mason trophy at Birmingham Alexander Stadium next weekend with good competition guaranteed.

From the MD squad there were x4 wins with Morgan Potter making light work in the IB 400m with a fine front running display in 53.3, and he will be hoping that better competition will drive his time towards the ES qualifying time. Dylan Bowley also looked impressive with a fast 2:01.7 in the IB 800m, and again he led from gun to tape to win with some ease, with guest KTH athlete Josh Cannell in 2nd place with a new PB of 2:12.4 Ryan Raulia put in a great performance in the High Jump to win with a jump of 1.53m, a significant new PB for him. KTH Middle Distance squad trialist Idayi Jumbe put in a great performance in the 800m to finish 2nd in 2:11.1, and won the triple jump with 10.93 to show he is a real prospect.

For the sprint squad Cynthia Ike looked impressive in winning the JG 100m with ease in 12.9 and she will be hoping for better competition to drive her on and better her PB of 12.7 which is just on the ES qualification standard. Squad colleagues Erin Healy ran well in the IG 200m with 26.2 to secure second place, Josh Gray also finished 2nd in the 400mh & max Mowforth finished second in the JB 100m with 12.3 to earn their call up’s.

Katie Gibson UK ranked 3rd would have impressed the selectors in the JG hammer with a fine throw of 42.06, and she again will be hoping for good competition at the Mason trophy.

The only other wins on the day came for Emily Williams who competed in both the IG 800m & 1500m, winning both races with ease with fast finishes and very modest times by her recent standards. Emily is unable to compete at the Mason trophy, but keeps open her options for ES until she competes at this weekend’s U20 Championships.

The day ended with an outstanding run by the Harriers U17 Girls 4 x 100m relay team joining forces to represent their district. They won the race in a new club record of 51.2 seconds, the third time that they have broken the record so far this season. The team of Erin Healy, Berny Kwei-Tagoe, Alex Beale, & Annabelle Clotworthy all represent the Harriers extremely well on the day.
