Ron Rockets to Number 1

On Sunday 26th February Thorpe Park in Surrey hosted it's first half marathon event and attracted a sell-out field and a number of Team GB professional athletes including Scott Overall and Andy Vernon. Alongside the masses and the GB athletes was KTH road runner Ron Searle. Ron is a familiar face to many KTH athletes and Kettering parkrunners, he is a very strong competitor for the club picking up a number of accolades over the years but he saved his best for this weekend. Ron ran a flawless race over the 13.1 mile road course and finished in a superb 1:27:15 placing himself at number 1 ranking for 2017 in the V65 age category. He was almost 1 minute faster than the previous 1st ranked athlete (Mike Sheridan of Newbury Athletic Club) and showed that the attention and dedication he pays to his training is paying off.

We hope that Ron takes a little rest to enjoy his great performance (and great medal) before embarking on his training for the East Midlands Grand Prix Series. Well done Ron from all at KTH!
