Startrack Success

Off the back of the European Championships Kettering Town Harriers held the yearly Startrack Scheme in partnership with UK Athletics and Kettering Borough Council. The flagship grassroots athletics programme aims to give real athletics experiences to young athletes and it is where World Heptathlon Champion Jessica Ennis started her athletics career as a 10 year old. Jessica is now an Ambassador for the Aviva UKA Academy.

Kettering Town Harriers ran the Startrack Scheme from the 2nd August – 6th August and the scheme finished off with a mini championship on the final day. Four teams of athletes competed over 18 disciplines varying from triple jump to medley relay. Eventually The A- Team managed by Aidan Bailey took the title from The Elites managed by Niamh Bailey. The Golden Mcluffies and Speed Racers managed by Lauren Boyd and Matthew Peleszok completed the placing.

Matthew Peleszok course organiser and club coach spoke about how well all the athlete’s had progressed throughout the week to culminate in the championship.

Any athletes interested in joining Kettering Town Harriers are always welcome at our athletics track at the Leisure Village on Tuesday or Thursday night from 7pm – 8.30pm.
