Third again in the Chairman's Cup

KTH's Under 11s and Under 13s repeated last year's third place finish in the Chairman's Cup, the inter-club event for young athletes.

The standard of competition was the highest it has been for many years and the young Harriers found the going very tough against the multitudes from Rugby & Northampton, who finished a long way ahead in first place. Corby AC, who were second, also fielded some very impressive performers.

The only winner for Kettering was Grace Linnett, who clocked 14.3 in the Under 13 girls 100m.

There were some good efforts on the field from the Under 13 boys. Ethan Mehmet leaped 4.59m in the Long Jump, a personal best that is not far off the club record; but it was only good enough for second place on the day.

Similarly, Gabrial Smith's new best of 1.40m in the High Jump would be good enough to win most competitions, but he was up against the remarkable Fraser Dalby from Corby who cleared 1.56m.

Under 11 athletes were thin on the ground for Kettering, which badly affected our points total, but there was a good second place for Demi Fox (3.45m) in the Long Jump.

The team managers will be looking for a much better turn out for the Heart of England League meeting at Kettering in a fortnight's time (Saturday 23rd July).
