Update – Return to Training

7pm Groups – Middle Distance, Sprints, Throws & Jumps

As per latest EA guidance and in consultation with Kettering Borough Council training has resumed at Kettering Town Harriers on a limited (5 athletes plus 1 coach), trial basis starting with the usual 7pm training groups Middle Distance, Sprints and Throws. Jumps will follow shortly.

If you normally train at 7pm, please contact your coach directly for further details. Let us know if you are struggling to get in touch or they have not been in contact.

Road Runners & Joggers

Road Running groups have also started back, and details can be found through our Official Kettering Town Harriers Facebook page and places booked through the following link:

6pm Groups – Juniors & Development Squads

We are hoping to resume training with these groups on Tuesday 7th July subject to:

a) obtaining permission from Kettering Borough Council to open the pavilion enabling access to toilets and the clubroom for registration.
b) having sufficient volunteers to effectively operate the new ways of training.

Due to restrictions on numbers and new ways of training we plan to offer 3 groups (5+1) at a time groups 45 min sessions starting at 5pm, 6pm & 7pm Tuesday’s and Thursday’s allowing 15 mins between sessions for changeover & equipment sanitisation.

New Ways of Training

In line with England Athletics, government guidelines & our KTH Risk Assessment submitted to Kettering Borough Council to enable us to resume activity, new ways of training now require the following:

1. Training in groups of 5 (athletes) + 1 (coach/leader) - numbers may change
2. Maintain social distancing 2m – distance may change
3. Provision of handwashing & sanitisation facilities
4. Installation of appropriate signage
5. The cleaning & sanitising of equipment before & after use
6. Booking and/or registration prior to track use
7. No spectators are permitted beyond the yellow gate
8. Anyone who is symptomatic, has family members who are symptomatic, suspects they have been exposed to the virus or have been asked to isolate by NHS Test and Trace are not to take part and remain at home.
9. All KTH members to be briefed on the new guidelines and confirm acknowledgement, and acceptance.

Your Help

To allow us to organise sessions for smaller groups of athletes and operate new ways of training, we need to ask for your help.

We will not be able to safely supervise and train groups of young athletes without parental support. We need wiling parents who can help us with small groups of athletes whilst their own children are training.

Volunteers are required at the following stations and to support the following activities:

1. Entry into the building (& queue management)
2. ‘Front door end’ of corridor directing people through the clubroom.
3. On the registration desk – all attendees are scanned in.
4. On the track pedestrian exit gate to prevent entry
5. On entry to pavilion from the track to control toilet access (1 in 1 out)
6. To act as Social Distance Co-Ordinators
7. Young Leaders & those who were scheduled for Assistant Coach training (25 April) to support coaching activity

If you would be willing to assist with supervision whilst your own child is training please can you email Jenny at [email protected] if you haven’t already sone so. To confirm your name and your child's name (and which squad they train in usually) so that we can see what is viable.

Pay-As-You-Go KTHBolts & Road Runners & Joggers

Unfortunately, we are not able to resume KTHBolts or PAYG Road Runners & Joggers and training at the moment, but membership is available to both groups (KTHBolts from age 8 years old)

Further communication will follow from our membership secretary Jenny regards booking training slots for junior athletes and volunteering.
