Sunday 1st September saw the veteran athletics team compete in the final held at Nuneaton. The weather was kind and the whole day went well, and with a mixture of field and track events the teams were kept busy with many athletes doing several events throughout the day.
KTH Ladies & Men's Vet's team
Kettering competed in the B final alongside Birchfield, Leamington, Harborough, Rugby & Northants Saints, MMAC, Bromsgrove & Redditch and Royal Sutton Coldfield. In a very close competition, the men’s team came 3rd, with only 5 points separating first to third, it was a fantastic performance.
The small ladies team was a respectable fourth with all ladies doing several events and scoring well.
Overall Kettering came third – a well-deserved position reflecting the great team spirit of the day and the many wonderful performances of the whole team.
The veterans athletics team compete in the midlands league which consists of eight local athletics teams. There are four evening meetings, usually Wednesdays, once a month from April to July, with each Club taking their turn in hosting a match.
The final is held around the first weekend in September and is split between the four regions of the midlands league, culminating in an A & B final held together.
Both the men’s and ladies team performed well with some records gained on the day and once verified these will be added to the Club’s website.
