Vets League Final

Kettering Town Harriers competed on the track at Pingles Stadium, Nuneaton on, 6th September in the Veterans League Finals, against clubs from across the Midlands. In our 'B' final;

KTH Ladies vets team came 2nd, & were only 7 points below the winners.

KTH Mens vets team came 3rd.

Overall result for KTH was 2nd place; runners up.

There were 8 teams in our final including such prestigious clubs as Birchfield Harriers.

The competition was won by Charnwood.

This was from a squad of only 15 athletes competing yesterday. Probably one of the smallest squads in the competition. A very commendable result and one that we can all be very proud of.

We all competed in multiple events to gain maximum points that we could with our limited numbers, including trying new events, with throws & field. Elaine got us started with maximum points in the 200metre hurdles & Karen got a new PB & age group club record in the pole vault, & Ian's first triple jump result for KTH. There were brilliant performances all round & to finish as runners up with such a small team is exceptional. Imagine what we could achieve with a larger team of competitors. Hoping we can attract more people for next season. You don't need to be fast, experienced or have a particular skill, as encouragement & coaching will be offered. The only qualification you need is to be 35 years old, & to be prepared to enjoy a great team atmosphere. If interested, please speak to Trudi, Tony, Karen or one of the other Vets team members.
