Vets league Loughborough report - 7th August

On Wednesday 7th August the Veterans Track and Field team headed to Loughborough for the last of the fixtures prior to the Finals.

The Mens team finished in 5th on the night and the Ladies finished in 6th.

Steve Sinnott enjoyed another great evening with a victory in the 200m (M50) in 25.9 and finished 2nd in new club records in Pole Vault 2.60m and triple jump 10.57.
Dave Folgate also gained a victory in the (m60) long jump in 4.14 and gained a new club record in the pole vault with 1.90.

Trevor Herring (m60) ran his 200m in 38.4, walked his 2k walk in 16.33 and made his debut in the hammer with 12.00m. Mike Herring (M70) ran 43.1 in the 200m. Richard Coleman still struggling with injury threw well in the (m50) Javelin 24.43 and (m40) shot with 7.82m.

Matthew Watson took a nasty fall in his 200m but still managed to pick himself up to finish in 36.2 but was unable to compete in his planned 800m while recovering in time for the later relays. Chris Johnson ran well in his 200m in 25.4. Sean Gallagher ran in both 800m in 2.55.3 and 3000m in 12.28.5. Andy Clawson ran a fine 3000m (m50) in 11.08.5.

There was a welcome return to Peter Goringe and wife Sue (field officiating) with Peter competing in the 2k walk in 13.58.1 quickly followed by a 3000m in 12.08.2. Also returning to the Team was Paul Young (m60) in the 800m in 3.32.8.

The 4x100m relay team of Andy Clawson, Matthew Watson, Chris Johnson and Steve Sinnott finished in 3rd place in 53.7.

On the Ladies side, Lorna Barlow was victorious in the discus (w50) with a throw of 16.95 and also competed in the Javelin in 12.69. Kathy Coleman had a busy night competing in both the long jump 3.02 and triple jump 6.14 for the first time as well as the 200m in 38.3 and the 2k walk 14.38.5. Elaine Fairbrother was nursing a slight tweak in her hamstring but still managed to run the 200m in 37.9, the 800m in 3.09.2 and 3000m in 13.29.

Paula Sinnott ran well in the 200m in 37.7 and also did the 2k walk in 14.52.1 quickly followed by the 3000m in 15.30. Babs Poncia (w50) also ran in the 800m in 3.24.1 and the 3000m in 14.30.

Christine Henshaw did the (w60) 200m in 66.7. The ever willing Jayne Devlin (w70) ran the 200m for 3rd in 54.3, the 800m in 4.44.5 and also threw the shot to 4.70.

The 4x100m relay team of Kathy, Babs, Elaine and Paula finished in 7th place in 73 seconds.

The Team now look forward to the Finals where they will compete against 9 other teams in Nottingham on 31st August.
