Young Athletes second at Oxford

The KTH Young Athletes travelled to Oxford to take on Corby in a League match - work that one out! The third club were supposed to be OWLS from Leicester, but they didn't turn up.

It was a close contest, which our local rivals edged by the close margin of 476 to 424 points, but there were plenty of excellent performances by the young Harriers.

Under 17s Sabian Phippen and Niamh Bailey both won three events, whilst Nick McCullough shone in the throws, winning the Javelin and the Shot. The results say he put the shot over 24m, which would be a world record, but possibly that's a mistake!

The High Jumps were a source of lots of wins for Kettering, including Bradley Fox (1.55), Sophia Smith (1.26m) and Daisy Gilbert, who also won the shot. In her first appearance for the club, Harriet Demnitz-King took first place in both the shot and the discus.

The middle-distance athletes were again in fine form, with Maisie Green's 4.02 for 1200m catching the eye. This was a new club record.

The meeting ended with both Under 17 4 x 100m teams winning in the pouring rain.

Thanks once again to all the athletes, team management and officials who supported the club.
