Young Harriers third in Chairman's Cup

On a very blustery day at the Leisure Village, the KTH youngsters took third place in the Chairman's Cup, tne inter-club county event for Under 11s and Under 13s. The powerful Rugby & Northampton squad ran away with the honours for the second year running, with Corby narrowly edging out the Harriers for second.

Kettering's best results came in the early stages of the meeting, with Tabatha Walford winning the 800m in 2.53 and Lydia Cole clearing 1.30 in the High Jump. Ben Tierney was also an impressive 800m winner in 2.36 and Gabrial Smith took the High Jump with 1.25, despite feeling unwell. Completing the symmetry were wins in the Cricket Ball Throw for Joe Bowskill and Freya Marlow.

Although she lost out to one of R & N's supremely-talented sprinters, Grace Linnett set a new club under 11 record in the 200m.

Thanks are due to Aidan Bailey for managing the team and to all those who helped with officiating, in the kitchen and in the office.

The County Mile Championships were held during the meeting and there was one Kettering winner - Matt Stewart in the Under 17 men, in a time of 5.11.
