26 harriers go forward to county schools

 

Kth Middle Distance Squad were in a dominant mood this afternoon with a superb display of cross country running at the Kettering & Corby district schools qualification race, with qualification places for the top 20 to go through to County Schools.

There were 5 wins, two second places, and 5 third places, with 26 of the squad qualifying for County schools!

In the U19/ U17 boys race race over 4200, it was superb wins for Jack hope and jake Trent who come 1st & 2nd respectively.

In the U19/U17 race over 2800m there was similar success with Jess Gordon comfortably winning the U19 race, and just edging out former Harrier Tabatha Walford into second place. Tabbs won the U17, but Harriers filled the next 6 positions in the race, with Chloe Hearne running a superb race to take second just holding off the fast finishing Rebecca Hughes & Sophie Moss who took 3&4th, with Elana Albery running well following a knee injury taking 5th and Hannah Winstone and Amr Robinson running well to take 6th & 7th respectively.

In the U15 boys race over 2800m, its was the improving Finn Batkin who was first Harrier home in a superb 3rd position, with Josh Cannell in 8th and Josh Owen in 10th also qualifying for the next round.

It was in the U13 girls race over 200m where the Harriers put in a remarkable display with the top 7 places all going to Harriers athletes, it was a neck and neck battle between Daisy Robinson and Millie Toseland with both side by side to the line, but the decision given to Millie who was carrying more momentum to the line. year 6 Freya Batkin ran superbly to take 3rd position to share bragging right with Brother Finn. Blainne Conway running well for 4th, Fay Robinson 5th, Harriet Drake-Lee 6th & Izzy Moxey in 7th giving a clean sweep to the Harriers.

There was a further victory in the U13 Boys race over 2400m with Dylan Bowyer back to winning ways in a superb victory, and a remarkable run for year 6 Ollie Read to take 3rd place and show he will be a great addition to the squad in the coming years. Ethan Nellis also ran well to qualify in 6th position.

In the last race of the day over 2400m the third Robinson sister, year 8 Jennifer Robinson, qualify with a strong race to take 2nd place behind Corby's year 9 Selina Scott, with Danni Gaskill running a great race for 3rd.
