Corby 5 Race Report

We are now half way through the East Midlands Grand Prix series so it’s downhill from now on (and uphill!).

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we had another successful night at the Corby 5, East Carlton Park on Wednesday 6th June. The men have now won all four veterans races and were third in the seniors. The women were 2nd vets and 4th in the senior race.

19 Harriers were in attendance. This is a gruelling course and, even for those who have completed it many times before, the last hill always surprises the legs and lungs.
Jack Chennell was first Harrier home and 11th on the night. Sub 29 on this course is no mean feat. Kerry Munn and Phil West won the F55 and M45 categories again. Kerry has almost secured the series win but cannot rest on her laurels. Matt Fowler was 2nd M40 in just outside 29 minutes. Phil Brigden, Ross Brown and Tom Shepherd (6, 8, 10th) made it four Harriers in the top ten M40.
Andrew Clawson and Martin Young were newbies for EMGP 2018 so thank you for joining the team. Andy registered as an under 40. Who’s he trying to kid??

At the half way stage and completing all four races, Kerry Munn leads the F55, Matt Fowler leads M40, Jack Chennell lies 2nd SM, Phil Brigden is 4th M40, Ross Brown 6th M40 and Eddie Murphy 11th M55. Keep it up!

All results: Jack Chennell MS 28:34, Matt Fowler M40 29:04, Phil West M45 29:37, Phil Brigden M40 30:33, Ross Brown M40 30:40, Tom Shepherd M40 31:16, Martin Allinson MS 32:28, Andrew Clawson MS 32:37, Matthew Spearman MS 33:06, Sean Gallagher MS 33:43, Vince Galiano M50 35:54, Elaine Fairbrother F40 36:04, Martin Young M40 36:07, Simon Rowe M55 36:59, Kerry Munn F55 37:03, Nicola Speed F50 39:14, Eddie Murphy M55 40:06, Rob Britten M50 41:28, Chrissi Stewart FS 45:24.
