Cransley success for Harriers


The local Cransley Hospice 10 km road race was won by a Kettering Town Harrier team comprised of both youth and experience.  A record 367 people took part in the race on a cold and wet Sunday Morning, 19 of whom were Kettering Town Harriers, with the first 6 crossing the line counting for the team.  First over the line for KTH in 6th place was Andrew Clawson (Master men) in a time of 38 mins 22 s, closely followed by Liam Kirk (Senior men) in 7th place with a time of 38 min and 40 s and Kemel Mehmet (Master men) in 8th place with a time of 38 min and 42 s.  In 13th place with a time of 39 min and 52 s was Edward Cannell (Senior men), 22nd place was Ron Searle (Master men) with a time of 41 min and 5 s, and 24th place was Michael Salter (Master men) with a time of 41 min and 56 s.   Such is the strength in depth that Kettering Town Harriers also took 3rd team position, with Wellingborough taking 2nd.  Also running for KTH in the 10 km race were; Ben Phillips (43min 5s), Lauren Mehmet (45min 23s), Martyn Winstone (45min 43s), Guiseppe Giammalva (45min 45s), Roz Giles (46min 42s), Gemma Royles (47min 34s), Paul Young (48min 13s), Yvonne Mehmet (48min 26s), Gabriella Ventukia (52min 25s), Evelyn Clawson (56min 24s), Jill Shinnick (58min 19s), Mick Freeman (64min 32s) and Barry Marshall (89min and 1s). 

 

Individual prizes in the 10 km race also went to Liam Kirk (2nd Senior man), Lauren Mehmet (3rdSenior lady), Andrew Clawson (2nd Master men), and Kehmel Mehmet (3rd Masters men).

 

In the half marathon race held at the same time but on a much tougher and hilly course, out of the 181 people taking part, 10 were representing the club and finished in the following order;  7th Phil West (1h 22 min) 13th Steve Giles (1h 24min), 17th Adrian Pendred (1h 26min), 25th Robert Brownlee (1h 31min), 30th Richard Campbell (1h 33 min), 56th Kerry Munn (1 h 39min), Anthony Poncia (1h 40min), Steve Duke (1h 41min), Barbra Fulton(1h 45min), and Wendy Duke (1h55min).  The team finished in 3rd place with individual honours going to Kerry Munn who was 2ndSenior 050 lady.

 

Also racing on the same day (and many for the first time) were many of our younger members.  Congratulations to everyone who took part in this race.  Winner of this race was Ethan Mehmet, followed by Joe Pendred in second place and Dylan Bowley in third.  Unfortunately no times were recorded for this race.
