The streets of Peterborough were well trodden this weekend as competitors took part in the Great Eastern Half Marathon and Fun Run. 21 KTH members, road runners and joggers were among the 4250 people taking part in the half marathon. The overall theme from KTH was personal success with a number of PBs and first time performances amongst our athletes. Also for Charly Ross-Kelly this was her 4th half marathon in just 7 weeks!
The first male finisher for KTH was Stephen Thompson with an impressive 1:21:43 finishing in 123rd place. Steve had been suffering with injury in the weeks leading up to the race so to be the first KTH finisher across the line and only miss his PB by just over 1 minute is a huge achievement. Well done Steve! The first female finisher was Kerry Munn with an equally impressive 1:32:36 finishing in 406th position. Kerry knocked over 3 minutes from her previous PB of 1:36:07 obtained in Liverpool in 2014 and her new PB puts her into 7th position in UK for her age group. Let’s hope that Kerry and Steve’s blistering pace continues over the winter cross-country season and into the new year road running and track seasons. Special mention must also go to Karen Albery who finished in 1:39:30 smashing her previous PB of 1:53:06 obtained only 5 months ago in Milton Keynes.
All KTH runners were welcomed into the final mile of the race by the sight of a KTH flag flying proudly with supporters cheering at the top of their voices!
Ruby Mcleod was the only KTH athlete amongst the 1256 competitors in the 5k Anna’s Hope Fun Run, unfortunately not competing in her red and white stripes which were left at home by her father Phil! Despite her lack of KTH attire Ruby completed the race in 44:01. Well done Ruby!
