KTH run RN close in the Chairman's Cup

Kettering's young athletes gave the holders Rugby & Northampton a really good run for their money in the Chairman's Cup, the County inter-club event for Under 11s and Under 13s.

With their best performance since 2008, the Harriers finished in second place, just 40 or so points behind R&N, and well ahead of Corby, who have finished second for the past three years.

Pride of place goes to the boys' relay teams who both broke the club records. The Under 13s (Christian Buecheler, Joe Bowskill, Travis Bowley and Jack Reed ran 55.9 for the 4X100m, beating the old record by 0.2 of a second. Not to be outdone, the Under 11s lowered the record from 62.0 to 61.2.

At the other end of the age scale, Gregg Smith broke the Club Veterans' Pole Vault record, when he took the gold medal in the County Championship that was held at the same time.

The results are on our fixtures and results page. There are two sets: a Scorers' Excel file shows the top two from each club in each event; the Non-Scorers' Word file shows all the other performances. You may have to look at both to find all your performances.
