Midland League Report - Kettering

The sprinters competing in the Midland League raised their game for the home meeting, producing a crop of personal bests.

 

In the 100m, 3 personal bests were recorded for Max Mowforth, Luke Riches, and Harriet Cleaver.  Max lowered his PB to 11.3 seconds to finish 3rd in his race, while Luke won his non scoring race, smashing his PB in a time of 11.7 seconds.  Meanwhile, Harriet blew away her opposition to win her race in a PB of 12.4 seconds to elevate herself to being one of the top U17 female sprinters in the UK.

 

Also competing in the 100m, Cole Sinnott won his race in 11.5 seconds, while Jasmine Anderson also won her race in a time of 13.2 seconds.  Competing in the non scoring races, Jack Abbott equalled his PB of 12.0 seconds to finish 3rd, Natalie Short won her race in 13.7 seconds, Sonal Rathod finished 2nd to equal her PB of 13.8, and Holly Abbott finished 3rd in 14.4 seconds.

 

In the 200m, Cole Sinnott ran a fantastic race to win in a new PB of 22.4 seconds, while Luke Riches once again smashed his PB to finish 2nd in his race in 23.6 seconds.  In the women’s race, Harriet Cleaver was in a close run race with Tiffany Cox of Abingdon AC, finishing 2nd in a new PB of 25.7 seconds, to Cox’s winning run of 25.6 seconds.

 

Jasmine Anderson also competed in the 200m and ran a strong race to finish 2nd to Daventry’s Cleo Martin-Evans in a new PB of 27.0 seconds.  Non scoring in the 200m were Jack Abbott, who ran a PB of 24.0 to finish 2nd in his race, Sonal Rathod who equalled her PB of 28.8 to finish 1st in her race, and Holly Abbott, who finished 2nd to Rathod in 29.7 seconds.

 

Caleb Corstin was the only athlete from the club to run the 400m on the day.  He ran his fastest race over the distance so far with a new PB of 60.1 to finish 2nd.

 

In the 4 x 100m relays, the men won their race in a time of 45.9 seconds.  The women were less fortunate, as although they won their race in a time of 52.1 seconds, they were unfortunately disqualified for a lane violation.  Both 4 x 400m finished 3rd in their races, with the men running a time of 3.58.7 seconds, and the women running 4.48.7 seconds.

 

Ryan Amesimeku made his long jump debut for the club finishing 3rd with a jump of 5.82 metres.  Also competing in the long jump, Natalie Short, coached by Dave Folgate for jumps, jumped a new PB of 4.54 metres to finish 2nd.  She then debuted in the triple jump & finished 2nd with a jump of 9.56 metre.  Sonal Rathod also competed in the long jump and produced a PB with a jump of 3.98 metres to finish 3rd.

 

In the high jump, Toni Robinson had a good series of jumps in the women’s event, and finished 4th with a PB of 1.30, while in the men’s, Reinis Batna and Pete Mills both jumped 1.65 to finish 1st and 3rd respectively.

 

Well done to everyone who competed on the day. We now move on to the final meeting of the series this season & will be looking to finish in a strong position in the league in what has been a challenging season.
