Four runners represented KTH at the 2011 Virgin London Marathon this year. First over the line was Phil West breaking the 3 hour mark with a time of 2:59.30. Phil commented 'I was concerned that I hadn't broken the hour mark as we started 30 seconds behind the other start areas but I was very pleased to see the result at the end.'
Matt Smith came in second with a time of 3:19.27. 'I found the course easier this year which was probably down to my preparation and keeping a steady speed throughout. There was a great atmosphere as always which was very welcome at 25 miles!' said Matt.
Next home was Paul Marlow whose effort was even more impressive as he decided to run with an illness. Although his time was significantly below his personal best he showed great courage by simply completing the course.
Matthew Peleszok finished the lineup with a time of 4:44.18 which rounded up a good day for the Harriers.
Ex Harrier Damian Carr ran his first ever marathon in a time of 2:38.19 finishing 128 in a field of over 36000 runners.
Never again.............or maybe next year?!
