The Chairmans cup competition is a competition for only Under 11 and Under 13 athletes. It provides a wonderful opportunity for young athletes at the club to compete in a friendly environment without worrying about any selection process.
45 athletes in the U11 and U13 category from Kettering Town Harriers took part in the competition. 15 were first time competitors!!
Approximately 300 athletes from 7 competing Clubs took part. Rugby & Northampton had 150 athletes present and with their depth in numbers all events were covered. The competition was won by R & N, perhaps not unsurprisingly given the numbers of competitors - although it is quality not always quantity that is relevant in these events.
Kettering finished in 2nd place on the day to Rugby and Northampton by 100 points but had a similar margin over third placed Silson.
Due to the numbers of competitors involved for the Club no athlete will be singled-out; all athletes performed very well on the day, particularly given the changeable weather which was a mix of wind, torrential rain and then gorgeous sunshine!
It is however worthy of mentioning the fantastic relay teams that we had on the day. All teams (except U11G) were victorious on the day with some brilliant running. The U13G's team were only just outside the Club record.
The Coaches and the Club were extremely proud of the athletes on the day. Well done to all who competed and hopefully we can have a similar turn out for the Club Open Meeting on Saturday 22nd August 2015.
