Veteran women earn their place in Evac final

The final league match took place at Milton Keynes on 7th August. Both the men's and ladies teams finished in third position in their league.

Importantly for the ladies team they needed a strong performance to try to ensure that they gained enough points to be selected for the Finals on 8th September. The team were lying in 9th place over all four divisions with only the top eight to qualify!!

Team Manager, Amanda Marlow managed to recruit a Couple of new team members at the last minute to provide cover for a couple of absent regulars! Evelyn Clawson (Andy's wife) and Debbie Cartwright (formerly Smith) who was previously a competitor for the Club as a teenager! Both performed very well to gain important points.

First places were gained on the night by Amanda in the triple jump, Helen Keyworth in the 400 hurdles and 800m, Kerry Munn in the 3000m, Andy Clawson in the 800m and Andy Phippen in the triple jump. However, it is the contribution of the whole team that gives the team total and all athletes competed strongly to cover the majority of events on the night.

Full results can be shortly found on the results section.

As a result of the efforts of all the athletes competing and the much needed points scored, the Ladies Team have made the Finals for the third consecutive year.  The Team should be very proud.   Not bad for a bunch of road runners, track judges and committee members!
