Williams secures Virgin Mini Marathon spot!

Emily Williams produced a quality performance to finish in third place in the East Midlands trial race for the Virgin Mini Marathon, to ensure she qualified for the prestigious race held on London Marathon day over the final 3 miles of the world famous London Marathon course.

Williams run a controlled race over the three 1 mile loops held at the traditional Leicester County Hall course, and was a comfortable third place in the race in 18:15 in which the first 6 athletes are selected to represent the East Midlands Region. Williams was delighted that she was able to qualify in her last year of eligibility and compete on London Marathon day in the British 3 mile championships against the best athletes in the country, on the same day as two of her favourite athletes Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge & Britain’s Sir Mo Farah battle for the London Marathon title!

This was Williams first competitive outing following her 2 week break after the cross country season, and she now looks to start 3-4 weeks of intense training to prepare for the upcoming track season.
